Paws in the Park 2006
This weekend will be one of the busiest of the season for dog-lovers in Maine. Don't have plans yet? Check out our calendar and start planning. Below is a short list of just some of the events going on this weekend.

Paws in the Park
Sun., Sept. 20
Portland
Paws in the Park is one of The Animal Refuge League’s largest most highly publicized fundraisers of the year! Two and four-footed animals alike look forward to this event and the chance to spend the day together. The festivities include a romp around Deering Oaks Park, food, demonstrations, pet items for sale, the chance to meet various breed rescue groups and this year’s event will have games and entertainment for children.

Paws for a Cause
Sun., Sept. 20
Topsham
A fundraising walk for the Coastal Humane Society Bring your furry friends and human pals. Prizes, raffles, food, pet merchandise, dog demonstrations, prizes for the best pet/owner look-alike. barking contest and more . . . Pick up a pledge sheet on our web site or at the shelter. All proceeds benefits the animals.

A Fund-raising event for Plant Dog Foundation. Fun contests include best trick and more. Tickets required. FMI: 563-7695.

Meet the Breeds Showcase
Sat., Sept. 19
Scarborough
This is a relaxing and informative event to encourage responsible dog ownership in conjunction with the American Kennel Club’s Responsible Dog Ownership Day. Our goal is to offer the public an opportunity to learn about the various dog breeds, see them in the flesh and fur and speak with people who know them best. Hosted by the York County Kennel Club and Vacationland Dog Club.

Newfie Fun Days
Sat. and Sun. Sept. 19-20
Elliot, Maine
